Hassan El Glaoui, Moroccan artist born in the ocher city in 1923.

Considered to be the pioneer of modern Moroccan art, Hassan El Glaoui began his artistic studies at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris.

The artist first devoted himself to portraits and still life paintings before considering the theme of horses and fantasias, in reference to the Moroccan history and heritage, which later became his international signature.

Traditional Moroccan festivals have come back to life under the brush of Hassan El Glaoui through his invitation to the heart of royal parades.

A saturated chromatic background and a multitude of characters in white bring out its light joy and its elegance of gesture.
After a life filled with national and international exhibitions with worldwide success, the artist passed away in Rabat in 2018, at the age of 94
